If you only get a box with a picture of a puzzle piece in the middle, you don't have the quicktime plug-in.
Go to Apple's Quicktime site to download it. After you do that, come back here to complete the diagnostics.
If quicktime works with your computer, you should end up with a movie and controller that looks something like this:
