John Dewey Presentation

The primary purpose of this presentation is to teach your classmates about your selected chapter(s). Given that this is a class about learning, the bottom-line question is, of course, what is the take-away in terms of learning? Why do we care?

In this light, your objective is to describe, explain, and interpret what Dewey is saying in the clearest, most direct way possible (remember, you only have 5 minutes). There is a huge selection of secondary literature on Dewey and I encourage you to make use of it.

Here are the requirements:

  1. By the end of Week 3, pick a chapter from John Dewey’s Experience and Education. Submit your choice to the Dewey Chapter Selection Drop Box. Please make sure to not duplicate any previous chapters that have been selected by your classmates.
  2. By the end of Week 4, using Voicethread, create a 5 minute presentation describing, explaining, and interpreting your selected chapter(s) of Dewey’s Experience and Education.
The presentation should be well-organized and clear, elaborating a succinct central claim/thesis. In particular, it should be clear to your audience why the chapter is relevant to understanding learning or what it tells us about learning.
  3. Watch the other presentations and offer some reflections via Voicethread.
