Lesson 2: Inquiring into Our Community

Lesson 2: Purposes and Plans

In this lesson, we have two primary purposes:

  • To get to know each other as a community of educators and inquirers.
  • To get a feel for the inquiry by engaging in a brief inquiry cycle.

In this lesson, we plan to:

  • Read and reflect on Buchanan-Rivera (2022) focusing on why unpacking identity is important for you and your learners.
  • Create an identity web and respond thoughtfully to questions related to your identity.
  • Read through your small groups' identity maps and responses.
  • Engage in data analysis by re-reading your small group data and writing to think through patterns.
  • Reflect on this mini-inquiry cycle as a participant and a researcher.
