Participate in Lesson 1 Discussion

Participation – including those with alternative points of view – is essential. Prepare for each lesson by completing the assigned readings and viewings. Then post your own comments and responses to classmates. Use the following question prompts for discussion ideas.  Be sure to use material from the readings to support your position or to use as a point you disagree with.  Your discussion posting should illustrate that you read the course material.

For this lesson your first posting or "answer posting" should be your response to one of the questions below.  It is important to use the course readings in your answer posting and your response postings.  This is how I determine your understanding and application of the material.  Please use quotations and citations in your responses when necessary.  This separates your thoughts, ideas, and analysis from the authors and provides appropriate credit where due.

You also need to respond to 2 postings from your classmates.

• Are work life issues just a concern for women?  Explain your position and use material from the class to support your answer.
• Pick a trend from the readings and relate it to your own personal experience.  Describe the trend and your personal experience. What work life conflict resulted from the trends?  Did your employer have a policy that helped you or that you could have used to allieviate the work life conflict?  Describe the policy and how it did or could have helped.
• If you were a human resource manager which trend discussed in the readings would you be most concerned about? Why?  What policies could you implement to help address the trend and any resulting work life conflict?
