The first unit will focus on arithmetic review. Most students will demonstrate an understanding of many topics and find other topics will require additional work.
Students should focus on completing this unit as quickly as possible and then get started on the objectives of the course. Approximately one week will be allotted to complete this unit. Students will receive a grade (out of 20 points), based upon percentage completion.
Unit 1 is primarily material from Chapter 1 of the text book on Real Numbers and Algebraic Expressions, with a few topics from Chapter 2. In ALEKS you will not notice which chapter a topic is from unless you look at the e-book to see which section the question is from.
This section should hopefully be fairly straightforward for most students but works on some key skills and knowledge to be used in later units. During the last few days of the unit, the Unit 1 Quiz will need to be completed in ALEKS. Please remember that you have two attempts at each ALEKS quiz, and the second attempt is a "quick retake". You will also encounter your first Pie Mastery Goal during the grading period for Unit 1; check your ALEKS gradebook for your current score and the Schedule for the due date.
