Read Chapter 14 in Hammer.

Crime Scene Analysis Assignment

Using your evidence collection and documentation procedure outline you created in the previous lesson, write a detailed evidence collection and documentation procedure answering Question 4 at the end of Hammer, Chapter 14 (Questions for Discussion) of how the nurse will collect and preserve evidence showing chain of custody.

  • Your procedure must include the following at a minimum, but you may add others:
    • Objective (of this procedure... What does it cover?)
    • Introduction (Why do we need this procedure?)
    • Definitions (What words/language will be used and how is it defined? [so everyone is using the same language and there is no confusion])
    • Policy Statements (What and who does this procedure govern and how will the work be accomplished? Are there specific training requirements, re-training, education, creditials?)
    • Resources (needed and available to those using this policy)
  • The procedure should look like a formal hospital procedure and include references (in-text citations, as well as a reference list at the end).
