- Complete all associated activities.
- Read and participate in the Lesson 1 Discussion Forum daily. Please keep in mind that this discussion forum is designated for Lesson 1 content discussion only. If you have general administrative questions about the course please use the SPLED 503C Main Discussion Forum. Lesson 1 Objectives
- Define stimulus control and its function in shaping and modeling.
- Differentiate between stimulus generalization and discrimination.
- Define and list components of imitation.
- Identify the four behavior-environment relations that define imitation.
- Describe how imitation can be taught and its use in instruction/learning.
- Define shaping and elements of shaping.
- Discuss the dimensions of performance that can be targeted in shaping.
- Give examples of skills that can be taught with shaping.
- Define behavior chains and what behaviors might be linked in order to form socially valid chains.
- Describe how shaping and chaining are linked in instruction.
- List three ways behavior chains can be taught in a task analysis (forward, total task, backward).
- Describe how to break inappropriate behavior chains.
- List factors that affect performance of behavior chains.
