Reserve Readings

The reserve readings system ("Course Reserves"), a service of Penn State University Libraries, provides course readings online. Step-by-step directions for using this system are provided below.

Note: You may want to print this page for your reference.

1

Click on the following link to go to the Penn State University Libraries home page http://www.lias.psu.edu.

Note: This link will open in a new window so that you can continue to refer to these directions.

2

Click on the link called The CAT -- PSU Libraries Catalog.

3

If asked to authenticate, please enter your Penn State Access Account userid and password.

4

Once you've logged in, a search screen will appear but do not search from this page. Click on the course reserves button button at the top of the page.

5

You will go to a new search screen where you can look for your course. You may enter either the course number (PSU 101), the instructor (Paterno), or the title of the course (Introduction to The Pennsylvania State University). We recommend searching by the instructor's name (last, first).

6

Click the appropriate search type in Step 3 (instructor, course number, or course name).

7

The next screen will show one of the following: a list of comparably-named courses, a list of courses taught by the instructor, or a list of the reserve readings for your course. Click on your course number or instructor name to continue. Note: If your course or instructor is not listed, try searching again using a different search term (for example, this time search by instructor name if you searched by course number before.)

8

Once you reach the screen with the readings on electronic reserve for your course, click the detail button button next to the reading you wish to review.

9

Full publication information will come up on the next screen. From there, click on the link to see the reading you selected.
Note: Readings may open in Adobe Reader or in a new browser window. If you need a copy of Adobe Reader, you can download a free copy from the Adobe Reader site.
