Lesson 4 Lesson Overview


Before considering the preparation of a proposal for a needs assessment project, you need to ask several questions:

  1. Do you have the appropriate competencies and experience to conduct the assessment?
  2. Are the required resources available?
  3. Is the client trustworthy?

Once you are satisfied that you are qualified and comfortable with developing a proposal, have the necessary resources available to do so, and that you can work in an ethical and responsible manner, then you can move forward.

Learning Objectives

After successfully completing this lesson, you will be able to

  • identify the importance and elements of the needs assessment proposal,
  • outline the critical components of the proposal and final report,
  • discuss critical success factors to gain support for the assessment process, and
  • identify ethics issues in the assessment process.
