Read through chaptesr 1 and 2 of Tony Platt’s book on the child saving movement via Electronic Reserve Readings. Thinking about modern-day U.S. society, can you see any similarities between then and now when it comes to middle and upper-class Americans being somehow fearful of the lower classes, primarily those from different cultures than those associated with the so-called mainstream?
