Family Life Cycle Model

2.  Family Life Cycle Model Carter & McGoldrick - Another Version of a Systemic Model

Family Life Cycle Model

This framework examines the family and its processes in the same manner as the bioecological model focuses on the individual.

It assumes all families go through predictable change precipitated by life events*

*note could think about this for all the systems in which humans are embedded (e.g., when president changes in a country, this ecological system must adapt)

Utility

Helpful framework for making generalizations (and what we need to do to provide supports for change)

Limitations

Assumes nuclear family; does not deal with atypical family
